Overview

Boxing Australia adopted the National Integrity Framework on Monday the 24th October 2022. This is an important step forward in ensuring boxing is a safe, inclusive and fair environment for everyone who participates.

The National Integrity Framework is a suite of integrity policies around issues like child safety, member protection, illicit drugs, competition manipulation and others. As of the 24th of October 2022, all members of boxing are bound by the policies and all members can raise any integrity concerns to either Boxing ACT, Boxing Australia and for more serious matters, directly to Sport Integrity Australia (SIA).

Boxing ACT has two Member Protection Information Officers (MPIO). Their role is to be a source of information and guidance around integrity matters for all members, athletes, volunteers, officials, and spectators.

If you have complaints, comments, ideas, questions or concerns about Boxing in the ACT speaking to an MPIO is a great place to start. Our officers can support you with information and access to having your matter handled.

The National Integrity Framework does not override a law of the Commonwealth, state or territory, which take precedence and must be complied with in the first instance. If you have any questions about the National Integrity Framework or require further assistance, Boxing Australia also has an Integrity Officer who can be contacted via email at: integrity@boxing.org.au.

What is the Role of an MPIO?

A MPIO is a source of information and support. MPIOs will not provide direct advice, handle complaints, advocate for anyone or provide mental health support. Their primary role is to hear your report or complaint and assist you by providing information about where and how to get the best help.

MPIOs are also inclusion champions and can be contacted about issues and ideas for promoting inclusive practices in our sport.

What Happens Once I Contact an MPIO?

The MPIO will listen to your complaint or report and provide you with the available options to have your matter dealt with.

If your matter relates to doping, child safeguarding or discrimination, the MPIO must make a report to Sport Integrity Australia. SIA will not undertake an investigation in response to this report. The complainant or a person directly connected to the matter must complain to SIA to trigger an investigation.

For all other matters relating to member protection or other integrity issues, including complaints, your MPIO can provide information about having the matter handled within our sporting organisation.

When Would I Contact Sport Integrity Australia Instead of Boxing ACT?

Sport Integrity Australia can receive information that relates to Doping, Child Safeguarding or Discrimination in sport. Sport Integrity Australia will review each complaint, and make any disciplinary decisions, independent of boxing.
